Dr. Andrés Hanssen Londoño is a bariatric surgeon from Barranquilla, Colombia. He earned his Medical Doctor degree from the Universidad Central de Venezuela in 1990. His journey continued through an internship at the renowned Hospital Dr. Domingo Luciani I.V.S.S., where he garnered practical experience from 1990 to 1992.

Dr. Hanssen's surgical precision and dedication to professional growth led him to pursue a General Surgery Postgraduate Course at the esteemed Universidad Central de Venezuela. This formative period, spanning from 1992 to 1995, saw him thrive at Dr. Miguel Pérez Carreño Hospital, solidifying his expertise and honing his surgical skills. He then pursued a Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellowship at the same institution from January to December 2017. Finally, he obtained the Homologation of General Surgery Specialty from the Universidad Metropolitana de Barranquilla.

With more than 25 years of dedicated experience in the field of Bariatric Surgery, he currently holds the positions of Attending Surgeon and Trauma and Acute Care Surgeon at Clínica Portoazul. Additionally, he takes on the role of Chief of Surgery at Clínica Iberoamérica.

Dr. Hanssen's affiliations include the Venezuelan Society of Surgery, the Venezuelan Trauma Society, and the Venezuelan Society of Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery (SOVCIBAM). He has also contributed to international medical dialogue through affiliations with the Colombian Association of Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery (ACOCIB), the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (IFSO), and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS).

Dr. Hanssen's commitment to the local medical community is evident through his roles in the Medical Society La Floresta Medical Institute, where he served as a member, vice president, and president during various intervals between 2003 and 2010. His dedication to the broader surgical community is further exemplified by his role as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, where his contributions ranged from secretary to president within the Venezuelan chapter.

Dr. Hanssen’s expertise spans across Minimally Invasive Surgery, Abdominal Wall Surgery, Laparoscopic Colon and Rectum Surgery, Bariatric Surgery, Robotic Surgery, Single Incision Surgery, and Surgery Through Natural Orifices.
