Professor Yusuke Kinugasa is a colorectal surgeon. He has been a professor of Gastrointestinal Surgery at Tokyo Medical and Dental University (TMDU) since 2017. Before taking this position in Tokyo, he worked at Shizuoka Cancer Center for 11 years as a Chief of Colorectal Surgery. He is the most experienced robotic colorectal cancer surgeon in Japan.
He is the Chair of the Japanese Society for Cancer of the Colon and Rectum (JSCCR) Committee to establish guidelines for the treatment of colorectal cancer and a member of the Committee for the Colorectal cancer staging manual in Japan (Japanese Classification of Colorectal, Appendiceal, and Anal Carcinoma). He is a member of the Committee of robot-assisted surgery of Japan Society for Endoscopic Surgery (JSES) and a member of the International Committee of the Telesurgery implementation promotion committee of Japan Surgical Society (JSS). He is a member of the Colorectal Cancer Study Group of Japan Clinical Oncology Group (JCOG).
His main professional and scientific interests focus on Robotic surgery for colorectal cancer, Extended surgery for locally recurrent rectal cancer and pelvic anatomy.
