Dr. Yago Blumengarten is a general surgeon and an HPB and transplant surgery fellow at Vall d’Hebron University Hospital in Barcelona, Spain.
He was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1992 where he studied medicine at Maimonides University, finishing his career in 2017. At med school, he was part of a research project involving acellular matrix scaffolds and their potential use in urethral transplantation. He was a medical student member of the American College of Surgeons, attending two Clinical Congresses in Chicago, IL and Washington D.C.
He started the General Surgery Residency in 2018 at Sanatorio Colegiales and completed both the residency program and the career of Specialist as a General Surgeon in the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) in 2022. He was Chief Resident for a year, finishing in 2023.
As a resident, he was a member of the American College of Surgeons and the Argentinean Association of General Surgery Residents (AAMRCG), publishing scientific papers and posters in several congresses and journals in Argentina.
Currently, he has moved to Barcelona, Spain, focusing on general and digestive surgery, minimally invasive surgery, surgical & medical education, and HPB Surgery.
