Dr. Shanique Ries is currently a PGY-3 General Surgery resident at Howard University Hospital. She received her medical degree from Indiana University Medical School in 2020. She has always had a passion for education and mentorship. While in medical school, she was a mentor in a medical undergraduate mentorship program, planned an annual medical/surgical simulation day for inner-city high school students, as well as assisted in a Point of Care Ultrasound Lab. Since beginning residency, she has volunteered to assist in the annual Intern Bootcamp for fourth year medical students. She has also served two years as her cohort representative in a Program Evaluation Committee.
Her surgical interests are Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) and Hepato-pancreato-biliary (HPB) surgery.
