Manish Parikh, MD is a Professor of Surgery at New York University School of Medicine and Director of the Bariatric Surgery program at Bellevue Hospital, New York NY. He is also the Chief of Perioperative Services at Bellevue Hospital. Bellevue Hospital is the oldest public hospital in the United States and is the largest safety-net hospital in NYC.
He completed his surgical residency at NYU Medical Center and laparoscopic/bariatric fellowship at NY-Presbyterian Cornell/Columbia. He previously served on the Clinical Issues Committee for the ASMBS. He is currently on the Executive Board of the NY State Chapter of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. He is board certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery.
He currently is on the editorial board for Obesity Surgery and Surgery for Obesity and Related Diseases. He has co-authored over 65 peer-reviewed publications and 25 book chapters. Research interests include the role of metabolic surgery in less obese (BMI <35 patients) as well as disparities in access to metabolic surgery in underserved patient populations.
