Dr. Weaver is an Assistant Professor of Surgery and Associate Program Director for the Vascular Surgery Fellowship at the University of Utah. She attended medical school at the University of Tennessee, followed by general surgery residency at Johns Hopkins, and fellowship at the University of Florida. She began her career at the University of Virginia where she acted as the Clinical Director for the Multidisciplinary Limb Salvage Service, and she currently practices the full scope of vascular surgical care at the University of Utah. She has a strong background in education and surgical education research and has been recognized for this with multiple awards including the Association for Surgical Education Linnea Hauge Promising Educational Scholar award and induction into the Johns Hopkins Distinguished Teaching Society. She is on the American Board of Surgery Vascular Surgery Board EPA Advisory Council and was the vascular surgery National Pilot Implementation co-chair. In terms of editorial experience, she is the director of the Association of Women Surgeons and journal Surgery’s Peer Review Academy and is an associate editor for Surgery and Global Surgical Education. She is also the research committee chair for both the Association of Program Directors in Vascular Surgery and the Society for Vascular Surgery Young Surgeons Section. Finally, she is preparing to defend her thesis to complete a Masters in Health Professions Education program at the University of Illinois-Chicago.
