Dr. Junichiro Kawamura


Prof. Junichiro Kawamura is a professor in the Department of Surgery, Kindai University, Osaka, Japan. He graduated from Kyoto University in 1995, and obtained Ph.D. in Surgery, Kyoto University Graduate School of Medicine in 2006. After training in laparoscopic surgery at Kyoto University under Prof. Yoshiharu Sakai, the current President of Japan Society for Endoscopic Surgery (JSES), he went to New York to do clinical research at Weill Cornell Medical Center for one year under Prof. Jeffrey Milsom, internationally renowned as a pioneer in minimally invasive surgery. After returning to Japan, he became an associate professor at Kindai University.

Prof. Kawamura is a board certified laparoscopic and robotic colorectal surgeon in Japan. He is a member of the Editorial Board of Asian Journal of Endoscopic Surgery and International Journal of Clinical Oncology. 

His main professional and scientific interests focus on robotic and laparoscopic surgery, fluorescence-guided surgery for colorectal cancer and combining multidisciplinary approaches for complex colorectal cancer.
